Dumas

Read this recently about Alexandre Dumas, the French author of The Three Musketeers and Count of Monte Cristo.
Dumas was often derided for his mixed-race background.
This is what he once said to one of his attackers:

"My father was a mulatto, my grandfather was a Negro, and my great-grandfather a monkey. You see, sir, my family starts where yours ends.”
